NJ Racquetball is officially on the map...
So i think with the success of our most recent tournament, the New Jersey Open, it is official. New Jersey racquetball is back! I could not be prouder of what our association has been able to do over the course of the last 2 years or so. In the beginning, everyone was a little unsure of what was in our future, and how the new association was going to work.
The NJO had 135 entrants, numbers NJ has not seen in many many years. I would never have guessed that many players would come out and play our tournaments, but it definitely makes all the hard work worthwhile.
For those of you who missed it, Ruben Gonzalez took the Open singles and doubles at the NJO, but there were some great matches all over the courts throughout the entire three days.

For me, though, the match of the tournament was the Men's B semifinal between Wil Mercado and Pete Perez. Wil pulled it out in a close 11-9 tie breaker, but both players laid every ounce of energy on the line throughout the entire three games. Trash talking, diving, great shots, tremendous heart, the match had it all. The best part was that it was all in good fun, and both players gave each other a big hug after the match. To me, that is what racquetball is all about....
